About Us

We are Michele and Carolyn Rafferty,  sisters who have shared the same passion for animals, and dogs in particular, since childhood.   We began training and showing our own dogs in 1978 and in 1979 we began grooming.  We worked for a few years at a grooming shop and decided that we wanted to open our own business.   We opened Blue Ribbon Grooming in 1984 with the goal of providing quality grooming services and care of your pets.
We take great pride in the fact that we have rarely had to advertise our services.  Most of our business has come from recommendations from both clients and local veterinarians.
We are proud not only of our grooming, but of the fact that we take great care to insure that your dog or cat has a good grooming experience with us.  We give your pets the same TLC that we would give our own pets.   When you come to us, be comfortable knowing that your dog is being cared for by either Michele or myself and that we have thirty years experience grooming.  Many of the larger chain grooming stores employ unskilled people to bath your dog as they get experience to later become groomers.  Your pets are being used as a training tool!  We do not do that.  Each aspect of your pet's care is peronally done by one of us.

About Blue Ribbon Dog Training

Our Dog training business began as a hobby. Since we began training in 1978 we have competed and earned titles in both the United States and Canada.  Some of our dog's achievments include having the #8 Novice Doberman in 1988, and the #11 Open Doberman in 1993 in the United States.  Our dogs have earned Dog World awards, High in Trial awards, High scoring breed awards. They have have passed TT ( temperament test), WAC ( working apptitude certificate), CGC ( canine good citizen test).  They have earned Companion Dog ( CD), Companion Dog Excellent ( CDX), and Utility dog ( UD) titles both here and in Canada.  One of our dogs,  "Ariel" (Warlords genuine Risk Am UD,  Can CDX. CGC), was the High Scoring Doberman at the Canadian national Doberman specialty.  Our dogs have also been featured in several magazines and calenders.

Showing dogs has been a wonderful and fulfilling hobby for us and we are thrilled to be able to work now with pet owners to help them to train and communicate with their own dogs.  Training has come a long way since we started in 1978.  Training has become so much more positive and fun than it was when we began.  We now use clicker training, rewards and fun to train rather that leash corrections.  We are so pleased to teach people these methods so that they can make their current dog their "Best Dog Ever!
